Born in 1919, Joe Forster enlisted in the Army in 1940 and was commissioned as a pilot in 1943, flying the P 38 Lightning with 432nd Fighter Squadron. On 3rd April 1944, he was credited with his first 3 confirmed victories, eventually finishing the war with 9 confirmed victories, three probables and one damaged.
